Hi Grandpa Norizan! 😄
Yes, you can definitely make your Windows 10 machine open YouTube, CNN, and DW automatically when Windows starts, and stop it from opening LinkedIn.
Step 1: Find Out Why LinkedIn Opens Automatically
When LinkedIn appears immediately after booting, it is usually because:
- Microsoft Edge is set to reopen previous tabs.
- LinkedIn was saved as a startup webpage.
- The browser was not completely closed before the last shutdown.
Check Microsoft Edge Settings
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click the 3 dots (...) in the top-right corner.
- Click Settings.
- On the left side, click Start, home, and new tabs.
- Look for "When Edge starts".
You may see one of these options:
- Open the new tab page ✅
- Continue where you left off ❌
- Open these pages ✅
If Continue where you left off is selected, Edge may keep reopening LinkedIn.
Instead, select:
Open these pages
Then add:
https://www.youtube.com
https://www.cnn.com
https://www.dw.com
Remove LinkedIn from the list if it appears there.
Step 2: Make Those Websites Open Automatically When Windows Starts
Press:
Windows Key + R
Type:
and press Enter.
A Startup folder will open.
Now:
- Right-click inside the folder.
- Select New → Shortcut.
- For location enter:
- Click Next.
- Name it YouTube.
- Click Finish.
Repeat for:
and
Easier Method
If you normally use Microsoft Edge, the easiest method is simply:
- Open Edge.
- Go to YouTube, CNN, and DW in three tabs.
- Open Edge Settings.
- Choose Start, home, and new tabs.
- Under When Edge starts, choose:
Open these pages → Use all open tabs
Now every time Edge starts, those three tabs will appear automatically.
🚀 Personally, Grandpa Norizan, I recommend this second method because it is much simpler and easier to maintain.
One small question: when your Windows 10 boots up, does Microsoft Edge open automatically by itself, or do you manually click the Edge icon after Windows finishes loading? That will help me explain the most suitable method for your machine. 😊
