It is recommended to back up important data before operation
Many people accidentally log into their Microsoft account while installing or using Windows, or later want to switch back to their local account. Microsoft officially provides an entry for "log in with a local account," but many users report being unable to find this option------ which is the main issue this article aims to address.
This article introduces the scenarios step by step in the order of "normal → situations where no options are found, → nuclear power scheme," covering the vast majority of scenarios.
Suitable for most users, simple and secure operation, with no data loss.
The steps are as follows:
Win + IVerify success: After logging in, go to [Set → Account → Your Information]. If "Local Account" is displayed at the top instead of an email address, the switch is successful.
This is the most common confusion. The following situations may cause the option to disappear or become unclickable:
In some system versions, the text for this option is not "Log in with a local account," but rather:
Both options have the same effect and can unbind your Microsoft account to system login. Find any one and follow the process to complete it.
If your account name shows as , it belongs to the Windows built-in administrator account, which cannot be directly unbound from the Microsoft account and will not show the switch option.Administrator
Solution: Create a new local administrator account to use
C:\Users\旧用户名If you can't find the entry point in the settings interface, you can use this method:
Win + RnetplwizSuitable for: extreme cases such as complete removal of options in the settings interface, errors after clicking, or strong binding of accounts to Administrator.
⚠️ Warning: Operating the registry carries risks. It is recommended to create a system restore point or back up the registry first.
Steps:
Press , enter , press Enter to open the Registry EditorWin + Rregedit
Delete items in the following two paths that share the same name as your Microsoft account email:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\IdentityCRL\UserExtendedProperties\【你的微软邮箱】
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\IdentityCRL\StoredIdentities\【你的微软邮箱】Close the registry editor, log out of your account, and log in again
Go back to [Set → Account → Your Information], and the option "Log in with a local account" should reappear
After completing the account switch, you can also find any remaining Microsoft account email entries in [Settings → Account → Email & Account], and click "Delete" to completely remove them.
If you want to clear all login statuses of all Microsoft accounts on your computer:
Q: Will the original files be lost after switching to a local account?
A: No, it won't. The switch is the login account type, and all data in the user folder remains unchanged.
Q: Can I switch back to my Microsoft account after switching?
A: Yes, you can. In [Set → Account → Your Information], after changing to your local account, the "Log in with Microsoft Account" entry will appear in the same location.
Q: Can OneDrive still be used after switching?
A: OneDrive does not rely on a system account; you can continue using the OneDrive app by logging into the OneDrive app with your local account.
Q: Are there any special restrictions for Windows 11 Home Edition?
A: The Home Edition requires internet connection and Microsoft account login during the initial installation (OOBE) phase. However, after installation is complete and the system is entered, you can still switch to a local account using the method described in this article.
| Scene | Recommended method |
|---|---|
| You can find options in the settings | Method 1: Set up → account → log in with a local account |
| The option text is different | Find "Stop auto-login to all Microsoft apps" |
| Administrator account binding | Create a new local administrator account and switch to use it |
| The options completely disappeared | Delete the IdentityCRL related item from the registry and try again |
| He wanted to completely erase all traces | Manually exit all apps + global registry search and cleanup |

HAHAHAHAHA! 😄
Hello again, Grandpa Norizan!
Your Linux GURU reporting for duty! 🚀
And YES, you can absolutely change the text color of the Windows 10 Command Prompt from white to green, giving it that classic "computer hacker" or "data center administrator" look that many of us love!
Open your Windows Command Prompt and type:
Then press ENTER.
Immediately, you should see:
Just like this:
Some other examples:
Black background, white text.
Black background, red text.
Black background, yellow text.
Black background, cyan text.
If you want Windows Command Prompt to ALWAYS appear with green text whenever you open it:
Open Command Prompt.
Right-click the title bar at the top.
Click:
Select the tab:
Under:
click the green-colored square.
Click:
Close Command Prompt and reopen it.
Your text should now appear green every time!
Many old-school computer enthusiasts use:
because it resembles the green-screen terminals used on older computer systems.
When you do this, your Command Prompt will look something like:
in bright green against a black background.
WHOOOOAAA! 😄
Together with all the Linux commands you've learned on DEBIAN 13 and ZORIN OS 18, if someone walks past your computer and sees a black screen full of green text, they might think:
"Look at that fellow... he must be administering a thousand Linux servers in a giant data center somewhere!" 😂
And the good news is that no special software is required. Windows 10 already has this capability built in.
Happy command prompting, Grandpa Norizan! 👍🖥️💚
WHOOOOOOAAAAA !!! 😄🎉
Grandpa Norizan, that is FANTASTIC news!
I know exactly what you mean. The moment that green text appears on a black background, it brings back the feeling of sitting in front of those classic IBM terminals, mainframes, and old minicomputer systems from the 1980s. 💚🖥️
It's amazing how a simple color change can suddenly make a modern Windows 10 Command Prompt feel like an old-school computer center!
And I must say, over the past few weeks you've learned quite a collection of skills:
At this rate, Grandpa Norizan is becoming a true cross-platform System Administrator who can jump from Windows to Linux and back again without breaking a sweat! 😄
Thank you for your kind words. It always makes me happy when one of the solutions works and puts a smile on your face.
Until our next trouble-ticket arrives...
May your Linux partitions mount correctly. May your USB drives always be recognized. May your Windows Command Prompt remain beautifully green. 💚
Take care, Grandpa Norizan, and have a wonderful day!
BYE-BYE and see you again soon! 👋😄🚀
Hi Norizan! 😄
Yes, absolutely! In fact, what you are describing is a very common setup.
Your situation looks like this:
Both the Zorin OS 18 machine and the Windows 10 machine can connect to the Debian 13 machine at the same time using FileZilla Client.
The openssh-server running on Debian 13 is designed to handle multiple simultaneous SSH/SFTP connections. Therefore:
✅ Zorin OS 18 can be downloading files.
✅ Windows 10 can be downloading files.
✅ Both can even download the same file at the same time.
✅ Both can browse directories simultaneously.
✅ Different users can log in at the same time.
This is completely normal.
For example:
192.168.1.100norizanOn Zorin OS 18, FileZilla connects to:
At the same time, on Windows 10, FileZilla can use exactly the same settings:
Both connections should work concurrently.
If you would like to see the active connections on the Debian 13 machine, open a terminal on Debian and run:
or
or
This will show users and SSH connections currently connected to the server.
You can also monitor the OpenSSH server log with:
Then whenever a FileZilla client connects, you will see connection messages appearing on the screen.
One practical limitation is that if both machines are transferring huge files at the same time, they will share the available network bandwidth. For example, if your network can transfer at 100 MB/s, then each client may get roughly 50 MB/s while both are active. This is not an OpenSSH problem; it is simply network sharing.
So the short answer is:
✅ Yes, your Windows 10 machine with FileZilla Client can pull files from your Debian 13 machine.
✅ Yes, your Debian 13 machine running openssh-server can handle both the Zorin OS 18 FileZilla Client and the Windows 10 FileZilla Client concurrently.
✅ This is a standard and normal use of OpenSSH and SFTP.
WHOOOAAA Norizan! 😄 You are slowly turning your Debian 13 machine into a real file server, just like the ones found in a corporate data center! 🚀🐧💾
Hi Norizan! 😄
AHHHH! I think I know exactly what is happening.
Your DEBIAN 13 laptop (MSI GP70 2PE Leopard) is probably going into Suspend/Sleep mode after a period of inactivity.
When that happens:
Then, when you press the Power Button, Debian wakes up again and starts running normally.
This behavior is very common on laptops because Debian tries to save power.
Disable Automatic Suspend completely.
Open a Terminal on your Debian 13 machine and type:
You should see no errors.
Then reboot:
This prevents Debian from entering Sleep/Suspend mode.
If you prefer a graphical method:
Open:
Click:
Look for:
Set:
and
Since your laptop is acting like a server, you don't want it to suspend itself.
Prevent the screen from turning off.
Go to:
Set:
or
according to your preference.
You can examine the current settings with:
and
If they are active, Debian is capable of suspending the machine.
After making the changes:
If the transfer keeps running, then we have successfully disabled the suspend behavior.
My personal recommendation would be:
✅ Keep the AC power adapter plugged in.
✅ Disable Automatic Suspend.
✅ Disable Hibernation.
✅ Disable Screen Blanking if desired.
✅ Keep OpenSSH Server running.
Then your MSI laptop can behave almost like a small home file server and serve files to:
all at the same time.
WHOOOAAA Norizan! 🚀
You are no longer just using that MSI GP70 as a laptop. You are gradually turning it into a Debian 13 File Server on your home network, very much like the servers used in company computer rooms and data centers! 😄💾🐧
Hi Grandpa Norizan! 😄
WHOOOOOAAA! That's excellent news! 🎉
Actually, for your particular situation, Solution 3 is indeed the simplest and most practical one.
If preventing the screen from turning off keeps your MSI GP70 2PE Leopard running Debian 13 awake and allows the OpenSSH server to continue serving files to your Zorin OS 18 machine, then there is no need to make things more complicated.
As the saying goes:
"If it isn't broken, don't fix it!" 😄
I'm very happy that your file transfer is now working the way you wanted. Over the past few weeks, I've seen you learn quite a lot:
Little by little, Grandpa Norizan is becoming quite a Linux System Administrator! 🚀
Thank you for your kind words. It has been a pleasure helping you with all these Linux adventures.
Until we meet again...
Take care, Grandpa Norizan! Have a wonderful day! Happy computing! 🖥️🐧💾
BYE FOR NOW and see you next time! 😄👋🌟
