Everyone has uninvited guests in the house from time to time. Most of us even have a bunch of tiny roommates who don’t pay rent. To be specific: Bugs of all shapes and sizes share our homes.

Plus, spiders.

A carpet beetle. You may want to learn to embrace your indoor insects—or move.

Research published in the journal Scientific Reports explains what kinds of housing arthropods (like insects and arachnids) like the best. If you don’t like insects inside the house, you may want to make your housing sub-optimal for them. However, for the most part, the amount of loving your place gets from bugs is based on how and where it was built.

For starters, bugs prefer bottom floors and basements. This shouldn’t surprise anyone: Who wants to climb a flight of stairs when you’re less than a centimeter tall? Also, if there are more doors and windows, that means it’s easier for them to get in. Again, not surprising.

Carpets keep insects snug as a bug in a rug. Dust mites especially love them. However, the authors of the study suggested that other insects may become trapped in them.

And they found more diversity of insect species in common rooms. That's where the party is.

What was surprising was that the behavior of the people living in the houses didn’t really affect the diversity of the insect population. It doesn’t matter if you’re messy or tidy. It doesn’t matter if you have cats or dogs or any other pets. It doesn’t even matter if you use pesticides. Bugs are all over the place, and sweeter digs just means that there will be more of a diversity of arthropods. Your house is like its own little ecosystem.

The scientists analyzed 50 homes for their structure and layout, as well as the activities of the humans living there. Then they compared them with the number and diversity of arthropods that they observed living there. They looked at book lice, gnats, ants, gall midges and carpet beetles.

SCIENTIFIC REPORTS

The biology hiding inside the "built environment" has been of increasing interest to scientists. According to a 2001 survey, humans spend, on average, 90 percent of their lives indoors. Thus, what lives in our homes can have a dramatic influence on our physical and mental health. Researchers are investigating whether microscopic organisms that make their way into our bodies can spur certain psychiatric conditions by causing inflammation. Others are looking at how this indoor microbiome alters our immune system and other factors that affect our susceptibility to illness.

There isn’t much you can do to prevent creepy crawlies from coming into your space. And, considering how much time we spend inside, our house insects might, as the authors suggest "serve as a connection to the outdoors." However, if it’s really that important to you, you may want to rent or buy a home that doesn’t have many doors or windows, and is on a top floor.

Or, you can try to get used to your tiniest roommates. Just don’t expect them to do the dishes.

To celebrate this, you will find a great prize party in Jubilee edition # 3/2017 and we will organize a special event for our subscribers on July 8th, where the jubilee edition will be officially launched, presenting several appealing manufacturers, giving you a tour of the famous Hardware. Info Testlab and together with the Hardware.Info Crew can toast on the 15th anniversary of the magazine. It promises to be a great day for hardware lovers to be a free subscriber!

Where and when?

The 15 year Hardware.Info Magazine subscriber event takes place on Saturday, July 8, 2017 and is organized in the Hardware.Info HQ in Amsterdam . Address: Mt. Lincolnweg 40, 1033 SN Amsterdam. Those arriving by car can park for free, for those arriving by public transport, our property is very easy to reach from Amsterdam CS train station. The start will be in the morning and the event will last until the end of the afternoon. Exact times will be announced at a later date.

What's going to happen?

The event will begin with a presentation by Hardware.Info's editor-in-chief Koen Crijns about the start dates of the website and the magazine. After that, the special jubilee number will be officially revealed and you will be the first to be a visitor to the event!

The rest of the day, all visitors are divided into groups and you can participate in different sessions, including presentations and workshops by various manufacturers, and a tour of the famous Hardware.Info Testlab, where you can see exactly how things like video cards, TVs, Laptops and feeds now feel exactly the tooth.

For an extensive lunch you will be taken care of and the day will end with a cozy drink.

Also , the Windows Tablet should have at least  3 units of full-size  USB 2.0  or  3 units of full-size  USB 3.0  and all the necessary hardware specifications mentioned below .   

Regardless whether the 15.6 inches Windows Smartphone looks like a Laptop or it looks like a Tablet , regardless whether the 15.6 inches Windows Smartphone is thin or light , the 15.6 inches  Windows Smartphone must have at least 3 units of full-size USB port . The reason is that  we can use the 15.6 inches Windows Smartphone for  hard disk drive cloning , that is , 1 unit of full-size USB port is connected to a  DVD-RW drive (so that  we can insert a bootable Live CD like Clonezilla for cloning purposes) and the other 2 units of full-size USB port is connected to the SOURCE hard disk drive and the TARGET hard disk drive . 

P.S.  Let us say for the sake of elegance , or appearance , or 
        because the  hardware/software  manufacturer want to make
        the 15.6 inches   Windows Smartphone (THE  15.6 INCHES

        the dongle )  to the  15.6 inches Windows Smartphone

        LOOKS  LIKE  A  LAPTOP)  and then insert a  Clonezilla 

        bootable Live CD  inside the  external DVD-RW   and then

        reboot the  15.6 inches Windows Smartphone

        LOOKS  LIKE  A  LAPTOP) , we should be able to start

        cloning the hard disks (the SOURCE and the TARGET) that

        were attached to the   Docking Station (or the dongle ) .

       

Another reason the keyboard should be detachable is because when there is an incoming call on the  15.6 inches 
Windows  Smartphone ,  the user can detach the keyboard from the  15.6 inches display and take the 15.6 inches  display with them and walk to another room within Wi-Fi distance and talk in private eventhough the  15.6 inches Windows  Smartphone (which is connected to a docking station) is doing something in the background , for example :

• uploading a 4 GB video file from the Internet
•  uploading a huge file or a collection of files above 10 GB from the Internet
• printing 50-100 pages of documents to a USB printer
• watching YouTube/Videos/Movies
•  hard disk drive cloning using USB port (work with Windows OS and Linux OS only)
•  transferring files from one computer to another using USB port  [ 1 2 3 4 5 ]   (work with Windows OS only)
•  transferring files from one computer to another using Ethernet cable or Wireless
• installation of application software for example ,  Adobe Photoshop ,  Microsoft Visual Studio , Microsoft Visual Basic , Microsoft  Office , etc.   (work with Windows OS only)

Processor/microprocessor :            INTEL Core i7 or a combination of INTEL Core i7 with QUALCOMM Snapdragon 835 , that means , 2  processors in one machine like a dual processor system , just like in the PC environment . Mixing 2 different  processors/microprocessors  architecture  is an engineering challenge for computer design engineers [1] and 
CPU  Architect . But if if is possible , the benefits are

15.6 inches Windows Smartphone or the 15.6 inches Windows Cellular Laptop should have 2 units of  fullsize USB 2.0 port or 2 units  of   full size USB 3.0 port to be able to do this . 1 full size USB 2.0 port or 1 full size USB 3.0 port is connected to an  external  DVD-RW drive and the other full size USB 2.0 port (or USB 3.0 port) is connected to a  USB Flash Drive or External USB Hard Disk Drive . Then insert a
 Live DVD software (Linux OS KNOPPIX 8.1 or Linux OS Ubuntu 17.10 )

              MANUFACTURER WOULD HAVE A REAL WINNER
              HERE BECAUSE IT IS A WELL ROUNDED
              MACHINE FOR WORK AND PLAY AND THIS IS THE
              DEVICE FOR EVERYTHING . IT IS A VERY GOOD
              SOLUTION , I ONLY CARRY ONE DEVICE AND I DO
              NOT HAVE TO CARRY SO MANY DEVICES FOR MY
              LAPTOP/TABLET/SMARTPHONE NEEDS . I DO NOT
              HAVE TO CARRY 3 ITEMS . I ONLY CARRY
              ONE  ITEM . I  ONLY  CARRY  ONE   15.6 INCHES
              WINDOWS SMARTPHONE .  ANYWAY ,  IT IS MANY
              TIME BETTER TO CARRY THIS THAN TO CARRY

              THIS KIND OF DEVICE , IT IS WORTH WAITING
