Even though we now have smartphones with screens that are well above 6 inches in size (almost tablet sized), most tablets remain just that – tablets. Even if they feature 5G and LTE connectivity, most tablets don’t actually support phone calls, at least now in 2021. Things were different a few years back when we actually had plenty of "tablets with phone calls" options, but nowadays such are hard to find, especially from reputable manufacturers.
However, even to this day a good number of people are looking for tablets that support phone calls and if you're one of them – you're in the right place! Below we've listed the best recent tablets that come with a phone dialer app and can make phone calls, just like a smartphone would.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
This wonderful midrange Android tablet not only comes with a free S Pen, but as you can see from our photo above – it has a phone dialer app. In our Galaxy Tab S6 Lite review, we were also particularly impressed with its light, modern design and loud, full-sounding speakers, especially considering its midrange price. And of course, you can easily make phone calls with its cellular version (linked below), just as if it were a 10.4-inch smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 8.7" (2021, WiFi + Cellular)
This is one of the newest 4G LTE tablets from a reputable brand that can make phone calls. Its relatively small size of 8.7 inches and understated, classic design definitely give it the appearance of a large phone, and it can be used as such.
The Tab A7 Lite is running Android 11, but because of its 3GB of RAM and Helio processor, it won't make for a great gaming or multitasking device. Still, if you can find use in it as a basic big phone or a small tablet that can make phone calls – the Tab A7 Lite is a good modern option.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4"
If you're looking for a cheap tablet with phone call functionality, then Samsung's budget A series Galaxy Tab A7 10.4" is a solid option. Its performance isn't that much different from the midrange Tab S6 Lite, and the A7 sports two more speakers – four in total, two on each side.
As can be expected from a budget tablet, it doesn't have S Pen support, nor is it a gaming beast, but it's perfect for media consumption and yes – making phone calls.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0" with S Pen
This two-year-old (but still very usable) tablet is actually somewhat close to phone-sized, at 8 inches. If you ever wanted a huge "phone" that can also be your notepad and tablet – the Tab A 8.0" is your best bet. It comes with an S Pen, which is conveniently stored inside the tablet itself, similarly to how it is on the Galaxy Note line of smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" (2019, WiFi + Cellular)
This one is also a bit older and not exactly a powerhouse, but a solid 4G LTE tablet that can make calls nonetheless. Its display resolution is 1200 x 1920 pixels, 16:10 aspect ratio, making it pretty good for watching modern widescreen movies. But its outdated 2GB of RAM means that it will not handle multitasking or general heavy tasks well.
