installation of Linux Operating System KNOPPIX 7.4 to a RAM drive on a MSI GP70 2PE laptop which has 8 GB of main memory

Insert a bootable Knoppix 7.4 DVD inside the MSI GE70 laptop and switch on the laptop power . After booting up , we can see the display as shown below

Then key in the KNOPPIX cheatcodes ' knoppix64 toram no3d ' and press ENTER   so that we can install the 64-bit version of the Linux OS KNOPPIX 7.4 If we just key in ' knoppix ' and press ENTER  it will boot up and install the 32-bit version of the Linux OS KNOPPIX 7.4  Since I have 8 GB ( should have more than 4 GB of RAM for 64-bit install to a RAM drive ) of main memory inside the MSI GP70 laptop , I prefer a 64-bit install of the Linux OS KNOPPIX 7.4 , as shown below

Then , the Linux OS KNOPPIX 7.4 will detect the neccessary hardware that is available inside the MSI GP70 laptop. It will detect the microprocessors , the embedded graphics chipset , the embedded audio chipsets , the embedded LAN chipsets and whatever microprocessor support devices that is present inside the MSI GP70 laptop , as shown below .

After completion and detecting all the necessary hardware ,  the MSI GP70 laptop is presented with the screen as shown below , at a high resolution which is  1920x1080 ,
as shown below

I feel more comfortable working at  1360x768 resolution on my MSI GP70 laptop , so ,
I adjusted it by moving the mouse pointer to the bottom left hand corner and click that left most icon and then move the arrow to PREFERENCES and then move the arrow to MONITOR SETTINGS and then click MONITOR SETTINGS to do the adjustments from there ,  as shown below

Networking the MSI GP70 laptop is with the RJ-45 port .  Linux OS KNOPPIX 7.4  64-bit  detected the embedded network card or the embedded network chipset inside the MSI GP70 and the MSI GP70  automatically connect straight to my home wireless router when I connect the LAN cable straight to the RJ-45 port of my MSI GP70 , as shown below

The picture above is just for descriptive purposes only. It is not the actual model of the MSI GP 70 laptop

Removed the current version of firefox ( which is iceweasel 32.0.3 ) and upgrade the firefox to the latest version by using Synaptic Package Manager . The current version of firefox could not permit us to install the Video DownloadHelper 5.4.1 , as shown below .

Pictured above is the current version of firefox which comes preinstalled with the Linux Operating System KNOPPIX  7.4  bootable DVD

Pictured above, the current version of firefox , which is , Version 32.0.3  could not permit us to install the Video DownloadHelper  5.4.1

Removed the current version of firefox ( which is iceweasel 32.0.3 ) and upgrade the firefox to the latest version by using Synaptic Package Manager , as shown below .

Pictured above , after removing totally the current version of firefox , which is , Version 32.0.3  from KNOPPIX 7.4 by using Synaptic Package Manager , system error occurred after trying to install the latest version of firefox .

So , before installing the latest version of firefox , under root mode or superuser mode , create a file ' apt.conf ' inside the folder ' /etc/apt ' and inside the file ' apt.conf ' use vi or vim to key in  ' APT::Default-Release “jessie”;  '  , as shown below

As shown below , under root mode or superuser mode , edit the file  ' sources.list ' which is inside the folder  ' /etc/apt '

Originally the file above is  sources.list  before I rename it to sources.list_backup

As shown below , the file  ' sources.list '  was edited as required

Then ,  key in the following commands below under root mode so that we can use the Synaptic Package Manager to install any ( we can install most –--- if not all ) Linux Software Packages or any ( we can install most –--- if not all ) Linux Application Software without errors.
# aptitude search linux-image [ 1 ]
# aptitude update [ 1 ]
# apt-key update [ 1 ]
# apt-get install debian-keyring debian-archive-keyring [ 1 ]
# apt-get -f install (use this command only if the above command do not
work, that is, it did not produce any output. Otherwise, the above
command ' apt-get install debian-keyring debian-archive-keyring '
should be okay
# apt-key update [ 1 ]
# aptitude update [ 1 ]
# aptitude search linux-image [ 1 ]
# apt-cache search linux-headers [ 1 ]

Then , installed the latest version of firefox using the Synaptic Package Manager , as shown below

Pictured above , after restarting firefox , we can see that the firefox browser has been upgraded to the
latest version , that is , Version 38.2.1

After upgrading to to the latest version of firefox ( version 38.2.1 ) , installed these two software , that is , Video DownloadHelper 5.4.1 and YouTube Auto Replay 3.3.1 , as shown below

After that , as shown below ,   install by using Synaptic Package Manager the following software, that is, BLUEMAN ( a bluetooth software that is use to configure and connect to bluetooth devices ) ,  PULSEAUDIO,  PULSEAUDIO-MODULE-BLUETOOTH,  PULSEAUDIO-MODULE-GCONF,  PULSEAUDIO-MODULE-JACK,  PULSEAUDIO-UTILS (pulseaudio-utils will be automatically installed after the 5 software packages is install but if the software is not there please install it ) , PAVUCONTROL ( this software is like a volume control ) . All these sofware will make the MSI GP70 laptop audible and also should be able to connect to any bluetooth devices .

After the software installation of the package  PAVUCONTROL  , please logout and then login from the Linux Desktop , as shown below

Shown below , after logging in into the Linux Desktop , we can see a small speaker icon on the bottom right hand corner of the MSI GP70 laptop display and finally the MSI GP70 laptop is audible now and we can use the speaker icon to control the volume of the sound .  After that we can play any media files ( .mp3 or .mp4 or .wav or .mpeg etc., etc. ) by using our favorite media player software and the sound will come out from the MSI GP70 laptop speakers . For me , my favorite media player software is vlc from VideoLan . As an example , I am playing a song/music by Paul Mauriat using vlc ,
as shown below

After that open up a google chrome web page and key in ' speedtest.net ' as shown below

After that ' Click ' the speedtest.net site and we are presented with a website as shown below . The website below requires Adobe Flash Player to display the web page properly.

Then , installed the 32-bit version of Adobe Flash Player for Linux as shown below . Even though I am running the 64-bit version of Linux OS KNOPPIX 7.4 , I still prefer to install the the 32-bit version of Adobe Flash Player for Linux because I believe the 32-bit version is more stable when running on top of the Linux OS KNOPPIX 7.4
64-bit kernel .

Finally , this completes the basic installation of Linux Operating System KNOPPIX 7.4 to a RAM drive on a MSI GP70 2PE laptop which has 8 GB of main memory.
